CSK face survival test as SRH eye knockout punch at Chepauk

Chennai, May 17 (UNI) Five-time champions Chennai Super Kings will enter one of the most defining nights of their IPL 2026 campaign on Monday when they take on an in-form Sunrisers Hyderabad side in a virtual knockout clash at the M A Chidambaram Stadium here.
For Chennai, the equation has become painfully simple — lose, and the road to the playoffs could effectively shut down.
After raising hopes with three consecutive victories earlier in the week, CSK stumbled badly in their previous outing against Lucknow Super Giants, exposing the same bowling frailties that have haunted them through the season. The defeat pushed Ruturaj Gaikwad's men down to sixth place, leaving them with no margin for error in the closing phase of the league stage.
