Crystal meth worth Rs 8.29 crore seized in Aizawl; one held

Aizawl, March 13 (UNI) Mizoram Police on Thursday night seized a large consignment of crystal methamphetamine valued at more than Rs 8.29 crore in the international market during an operation at Chaltlang locality in Aizawl, and arrested one person in connection with the case.
Confirming the development on Friday, the state Police department’s Chief Public Relations Officer and Inspector General of Police (IGP) H. Ramthlengliana said the seizure was made during a targeted operation conducted by a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (Special Branch) based on specific intelligence inputs.
The operation led to the arrest of Tongbram Priyobarta Singh (50), son of Tongbram Ibotombi Singh and a resident of Hastal Village in Uttam Nagar under the West Delhi district. He was apprehended at Chaltlang in the northern part of Aizawl at around 10:48 pm on Thursday.
