CPI slams fuel price rise, demands end to dynamic pricing in transport sector

Hyderabad, May 15 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI) Central Executive Committee (CEC) Member K. Narayana strongly criticised the continuous rise in fuel prices, stating that it is severely impacting common people across the country.
In a statement issued on Friday, Narayana alleged that the instability in global crude oil prices was largely due to war-driven policies pursued by former US President Donald Trump and growing international tensions fuelled by imperialist interests. He said that whenever global conflicts intensify, crude oil prices rise sharply, ultimately burdening ordinary citizens.
He further alleged that both the Central and State governments in India were adding to the burden through cess, taxes, and other charges imposed on petroleum products. According to him, the increase in fuel prices has led to a sharp rise in transportation costs, directly affecting railway fares, flight ticket prices, goods transport, and the prices of essential commodities.
