CPI calls ‘Chalo Assembly’ on March 20; warns it may distance itself from alliance with Congress in Telangana

Hyderabad, March 12 (UNI) Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, State Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) in Telangana and an MLA, on Wednesday said the party had given a call for a “Chalo Assembly” protest on March 20 to press for the allocation of house sites to the poor. He also announced state-wide protests to protect Singareni Collieries Company Limited.
Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, the CPI leader said the party would hold week-long protests to safeguard Singareni and organise state-wide demonstrations on March 16 against the stance of the United States on international issues.
He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to break his silence on the actions of the United States and to issue a statement calling for an end to tensions related to the Iran–Israel conflict.
