Congress slams AAP for undermining democracy in Punjab Assembly

Chandigarh, July 12 (UNI) Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira has launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing it of turning Punjab’s Vidhan Sabha into a “shameless circus” and dismantling the state’s democratic institutions under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership.
The key allegation of Khaira is that the AAP government is not merely marginalising the opposition, it is actively dismantling the foundation of democratic norms. The Vidhan Sabha, which was once a place of spirited and accountable governance, is now, he claims, has been reduced to a stage for "scripted theatrics" and "political silencing".
At the core of Khaira’s criticism lie two major flashpoints: First, a spike in alleged fake police encounters, which he says mark a return to Punjab’s darkest days. Second, a land grab of nearly 25,000 acres in Ludhiana, which he calls a “loot of farmers’ land.”
