Congress MLAs in Rajasthan submit memorandum to Governor regarding row over "hidden" cameras in assembly hall

Jaipur, Sep 11 (UNI) The controversy over alleged breach of right to privacy of the Opposition members by extra "hidden cameras" in the Rajasthan assembly hall, is not settling down yet as a delegation of the Opposition Congress MLAs sought intervention from Governor Haribhau Bagade in the matter. The delegation led by LoP Tika Ram Jully called on the Governor Bagade in the Raj Bhawan today and submitted memorandum to the latter.
In brief chat with the media, the LoP Jully reiterated the accusations of "hidden cameras the control of which is allegedly set in the rest room of the Speaker's Chamber". He said "We have no problem with cameras fitting in the assembly hall for live telecast of the proceeding, but "hidden-extra" cameras positioned to keep tab on the opposition benches were breach of right to our privacy. Why should our conversations after the adjournments of the house be monitored ?"
The issue had rocked the state assembly during the last two days. Yesterday, this issue disrupted the proceedings of the house for almost the entire sitting. This remains a big issue, despite, assurance from Speaker Vasudev Devnani on the floor of the House yesterday that privacy of each and every of the 200 members is intact, "the cameras in reference are there to ensure effective and foolproof security in the assembly hall and not for invading privacy of the members. Moreover, what type of act can be private there at as distinguished public place as the assembly hall and it's lobbies," the Speaker added.
