Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira slams AAP for utilizing state resources for Moga rally

Chandigarh, Feb 16 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing it of exploiting state machinery and public funds to facilitate its political rally in Moga. Khaira alleged that the event, which was promoted as a campaign against narcotics, was in reality a partisan political exercise conducted at the expense of the state exchequer.
The legislator claimed that the government diverted thousands of public transport buses and administrative vehicles to ferry crowds to the venue, a move that reportedly left regular commuters, students, and office-goers stranded across various districts. Khaira criticized the Bhagwant Mann-led administration for its alleged insensitivity, stating that the disruption of essential public transport services reflects a government more concerned with image-building than the welfare of the common man. He further argued that taxpayers' money is being squandered on propaganda and political spectacles rather than being utilized for the improvement of essential services.
Khaira also challenged the state government’s claims regarding its success in the "war against drugs." He asserted that the ground reality in Punjab tells a different story, with reports of narcotics-related deaths and easy drug availability persisting in several regions. According to the Congress leader, the government's efforts have remained superficial, focusing more on high-cost publicity events than on dismantling the actual supply chains or enhancing rehabilitation infrastructure.
