Congress hits back at Babulal Marandi over Urban Development remarks

Ranchi, Feb 8 (UNI)The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee on Sunday countered allegations made by Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi on urban development, accusing the BJP of large-scale irregularities during its tenure in urban local bodies.
Responding to Marandi’s remarks, state Congress spokesperson Sonal Shanti said that before commenting on urban development, Marandi should seek detailed information from mayors and chairpersons elected on party symbols in municipal corporations such as Ranchi and Medininagar. He alleged that during their tenure, urban development schemes witnessed systematic misuse of funds in a phased manner.
Sonal Shanti pointed out that between 2014 and 2019, Jharkhand had a full-term BJP government, with BJP leaders holding key positions including Urban Development Minister, mayors, deputy mayors and a majority of councillors in urban bodies. He alleged that urban areas witnessed destruction instead of development due to what she termed a "BJP loot gang" that allegedly siphoned off funds allocated for development projects.
