Congress and Akalis backstabbed Babasaheb Ambedkar by denying education to the poor, says CM Mann

Chandigarh, April 14 (UNI) Marking the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), accusing them of systematically denying education to the underprivileged.
Addressing a state-level function in Adampur, the Chief Minister stated that keeping the poor uneducated was a "deliberate political choice" by previous regimes to ensure they remained trapped in a cycle of dependency, while scholarship funds meant for Dalit youth were allegedly siphoned off.
The Chief Minister asserted that while Babasaheb envisioned a society built on the pillars of education and dignity, the SAD-led government kept the poor confined to the "Atta-Dal" scheme to serve their own political interests. He specifically criticised former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's policy of not failing students until the ninth standard, arguing that it prevented children from realising their academic weaknesses and led to massive failures at the matriculation level, effectively ruining their careers.
