Cong suspends MLC Jabbar over anti-party activities in Davanagere bypoll

Bengaluru, Apr 15 (UNI) The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Wednesday suspended Legislative Council member K Abdul Jabbar from the primary membership of the party, citing alleged anti-party activities during the recent Davanagere South Assembly bypoll.
According to an official order issued by KPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, the suspension takes immediate effect, with the party accusing Jabbar of acting against organisational interests during the April 9 by-election.
Party sources said Jabbar, who had reportedly sought a ticket from Davanagere South but was denied in favour of Samarth Mallikarjun, is alleged to have supported rival candidates during the campaign. The party also claimed that an internal assessment and report by AICC observers pointed to coordinated dissent within sections of the minority leadership during the poll process.
