Cong neglecting Telangana Gurukuls, undermining KCR’s vision: KTR

Hyderabad, Feb 16 (UNI) BRS Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) has strongly criticised the Congress government, accusing it of neglecting Telangana’s Gurukul institutions, which thrived under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).
Through Twitter (X), he alleged that within just a year of Congress rule, these institutions have fallen into disarray, putting the future of thousands of marginalized students at risk.
KTR accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of deliberately dismantling the Gurukul system, which was established to provide quality education to Dalit, Tribal, Backward Class, and Minority children. He claimed that the Congress government’s failure to maintain these institutions reflects its attempt to erase KCR’s legacy.
Highlighting a stark decline in applications, KTR pointed out that during the BRS government, 1.68 lakh students applied for 41,000 seats in SC, ST, BC, and Minority Gurukuls. In contrast, under the Congress administration, only 80,000 applications have been received for 51,000 seats—suggesting that more than 80,000 parents have lost confidence in the system.
Expressing deep concern, KTR lamented that while Gurukuls were once a top choice for students, they are now struggling to attract applicants. He attributed this shift to alarming incidents, including the reported deaths of over 50 students due to hunger, snake bites, suicides, and food poisoning—cases that have raised serious safety concerns among parents. “Parents now fear for their children’s lives more than their education,” KTR remarked.
Furthermore, he criticised the Congress government for its indifference toward grieving families, alleging that ministers and MLAs failed to console them and instead attempted to suppress BRS leaders from reaching out.
KTR recalled how Gurukul students once pursued careers in medicine and engineering, but he now fears an uncertain future for them due to the Congress government’s lack of vision. He accused CM Revanth Reddy—who also holds the Education portfolio—of deliberately weakening the Gurukul system through discriminatory policies and negligence.
Warning that public trust in Gurukuls is eroding rapidly, KTR stated that this serves as a reflection of the Congress government’s unfulfilled promises. He demanded immediate corrective action to restore these institutions to their former glory and vowed that the BRS would continue its fight against the government’s apathy until necessary reforms are undertaken.
