Tumakuru, Dec 13 (UNI) union Minister of State V Somanna on Saturday made a significant disclosure by claiming that Congress leaders had supported his electoral victory in Tumakuru, even as he said he personally wished Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara to become the Chief Minister, remarks that came amid the ongoing political storm over leadership in the state.
Addressing a public gathering after performing the ground-breaking ceremony for a railway overbridge project at Heggere near Tumakuru, Somanna said Parameshwara was a "fortunate Home Minister" and added that he harboured a personal desire to see him lead the state. He said this view was not limited to him alone but also reflected the opinion of the people of Tumakuru.
"Parameshwara is a fortunate Home Minister. Somewhere in my heart, there is a desire that he should become the Chief Minister of this state. I am not saying this alone; this is also the opinion of the people of Tumakuru. Who knows destiny? Let it happen as per destiny. Just as BJP and JD(S) leaders helped me win, long-time Congress leaders also stood by me."
