Cong alleges massive job scam in Goa, accuses BJP govt of cover up

New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) The Congress on Wednesday alleged a massive cash-for-jobs scam in Goa to the tune of hundreds of crores of rupees and accused the BJP government there of trying to hush up the matter.
Calling it as a 'Vyapam scam of Goa', the party demanded a high-level independent inquiry into the matter.
Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here, party leaders Girish Chodankar and Alok Sharma demanded a 'white paper' on the post-2019 recruitment in Goa and sought a high-level committee to investigate this alleged cash-for-jobs-scam.
Sharma said, so far, about 20 FIRs have been registered in this case and 19 people have been arrested. In 2019, an Act of Goa Public Service Commission came into force, but it was amended twice.
He disclosed that many audios revealing transactions of crores of rupees have come out and several people have been arrested.
Many people who have been arrested in this scam have pictures with BJP leaders, Alok said, while adding, the case was being investigated by the Goa Police, which is under the state Home Minister and the Ministry is under the Chief Minister. The BJP was trying to cover it up, he alleged.
At the same time, Girish Chodankar said that the Staff Selection Commission was formed in 2019, but no recruitment was done under it. Instead, all recruitments were done departmentally.
He alleged that the role of the Chief Minister of Goa also comes under question and he must answer to the youth of the state.
The name of the Chief Minister's wife has also come up in this whole case, he claimed adding, the Chief Minister needs to answer as he cannot escape from this case.
