Confusion in BMC over engineers’ transfers despite CM’s stay order

Mumbai, Mar 11 (UNI) Confusion surfaced in the municipal administration after a letter from the Mayor regarding transfer of engineers came to light, even as the Chief Minister’s stay order on the transfers remains in effect.
Earlier, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had temporarily halted the implementation of the transfer orders following complaints raised during the administrator’s tenure. However, Mayor Ritu Tawde has now written to Additional Municipal Commissioner Avinash Dhakane, directing the administration to take action regarding the implementation of the transfer orders.
In the letter, the Mayor referred to a memorandum submitted by the Municipal Engineers’ union and instructed officials to take appropriate action in accordance with the rules. The issue of transfers involving Assistant Engineers and Sub-Engineers in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has once again come under discussion.
