CM Vijayan says Sabarimala Gold theft issue won't impact elections; Opposition parties disagree

Kannur, Dec 11 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the people of Kerala support the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and that he expects a "historical victory" in the local body elections.
Speaking to reporters after casting his vote along with his family members at Cherikkal Junior Basic LP School in Pinarayi Grama Panchayat, Vijayan said, "Even places considered strongholds of the United Democratic Front (UDF) are now accepting the LDF due to the development projects implemented by the government.
He said the Sabarimala gold theft controversy would not affect the elections. Admitting that some wrongdoings had taken place in Sabarimala, he said the government had taken a firm stand and initiated appropriate action against those involved. He accused the BJP and the UDF of spreading false statements against the LDF over the issue, adding that believers had continued to support the LDF.
