CM Mamata Banerjee honours noted singer Aarti Mukherjee at 31st KIFF

Kolkata, Nov 6 (UNI) In a deeply emotional moment at the 31st Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee presented the Banga Bibhushan Award to legendary playback singer Aarti Mukherjee, a moment suffused with warmth and nostalgia.
Recalling her lifelong contribution to Indian music, the Chief Minister said with visible affection, "Aarti Di has given so much to this country through her songs. We were unable to give her anything in return. Her songs still echo on our lips. We could never truly honour Aarti Di the way she deserved. So today, we are offering a small gift from our side."
"You may have received many awards in life, but the gift that comes from one's soil carries a love unlike any other," she further added.
Overwhelmed, Aarti Mukherjee's eyes glistened with tears as she took the microphone. "I've accepted this with deep love."
The noted singer extended her appreciation for the CM stating how much she adores her way of working and compassion, especially towards the musicians.
Banerjee, visibly touched, rose from her seat and embraced the veteran singer. "Stay well, Aarti Di. Keep living through your music and never stop singing."
