CJI Calls for Tech-Driven Response to Cyber Crime, Launches ‘ABHAY’ Chatbot; 23 CBI Personnel Honoured

New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) The Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, on Monday delivered the 22nd D.P. Kohli Memorial Lecture at Bharat Mandapam, highlighting the growing challenges of cyber crime and the need for a coordinated, technology-driven response from police and the judiciary.
The lecture, organised by the Central Bureau of Investigation, was held in memory of its Founder Director, D.P. Kohli, as part of its Raising Day observance. On the occasion, the Chief Justice also conferred the Police Medal for Meritorious Service on 23 CBI staff and officials
In his address, Justice Surya Kant stressed that institutional strength depends on public trust rather than authority alone. He described cyber crime as a fast-evolving, transnational and anonymous threat that challenges traditional enforcement mechanisms. He noted that such crimes affect not only financial systems but also human dignity and public confidence.
