Civic polls: Additional police deployed in Nashik as campaigning ends

Nasik, Jan 14 (UNI) Additional police personnel have been deployed in the city a day after campaigning for municipal elections ended on Tuesday. City police along with armed teams have taken control of lanes, squares, main roads, polling stations, and strongrooms. Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik inspected sensitive polling stations on Wednesday and reviewed security arrangements.
Flying squads, zonal and patrolling teams have been assigned their duties by Deputy Commissioner Kiran Kumar Chavan. Police teams have been put on alert under the leadership of deputy commissioners Monika Raut and Kishore Kale.
As soon as the campaigning ended, the police set up camps in every area. Since the distribution of polling materials will begin from Wednesday, a large police force will be deployed around each strongroom. During this time, traffic in some areas will be diverted, and the materials will be transported to the polling stations under armed guards.
