New Delhi, July 16 (UNI) Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, N Koteshwar Singh, and Justice R Mahadevan of the Madras High Court have been elevated to the Supreme Court of India, the Ministry of Law and Justice said on Tuesday.
According to an official release, these appointments, made by President Droupadi Murmu, will be effective from the date the Judges assume their duties.
The release stated, "The President, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India, has appointed N. Koteshwar Singh, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh (original High Court Manipur), and R. Mahadevan, Judge, Madras High Court, as Judges of the Supreme Court of India in order of seniority with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices."
