Chhattisgarh: Nakti demolition row escalates as BJP, Congress trade charges

Raipur, Jul 12 (UNI) The political confrontation over the demolition drive at Nakti village on the outskirts of Raipur has intensified, setting the stage for a heated debate during the Monsoon Session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly.
Both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress have hardened their positions, with each accusing the other of misleading the public over the controversy. The issue is expected to emerge as one of the key flashpoints in the legislature.
The latest round of accusations began after senior Congress leader and former minister Mohammad Akbar alleged that the state government is preparing to hand over nearly 1,076 acres of land, including portions of Nakti, to private developers under a proposed urban development scheme.
