Chhattisgarh: 8 Naxalites killed, two jawans injured in encounter

Narayanpur, June 15 (UNI) At least eight naxalites were killed, one Jawan martyred and two Jawans injured in an encounter between police and Naxalites since the last two days at Kutul area in Abujhmand of Narayanpur on the border of Chhattisgarh-Mahrashtra states.
The encounter between police and Naxalites resumed again on Saturday morning in Kutul area.
Inspector General of Police of Bastar Range P Sundarraj said that the Reserve Police Force, Chhattisgarh, Armed Force, and Tibet Border Security Force Jawans are involved in the joint anti-Naxalite operation in Narayanpur, Bastar, Kondagaon, Kanker, Dantewada districts on Wednesday.
Police said that the number of Naxalites killed in the encounter is likely to increase. Police had received information that a large number of Naxalites are present in Kutul, Farasbeda, and Kodtameta areas.
After receiving the information, about 1400 soldiers from Jagdalpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Kanker of the Bastar division have been engaged in the operation.
The joint team of police and soldiers has surrounded the hideout of Naxalites. Even a day before, there was intermittent firing with the joint team of soldiers.
Police officials said that detailed information will be available only after the return of the soldiers.

Ludhiana, Jun 13 (UNI) BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today came down heavily on Punjab's Bhagwant Mann government, berating its "unconstitutional and anti-farmer policies" including the land pooling scheme and demanded it be withdrawn immediately.

During his campaign for the Ludhiana West Assembly bypoll, Chugh met farmer delegations, especially from 37 villages affected by the land pooling scheme. He was handed a detailed memorandum by the farmers, seeking urgent intervention and protection of their land rights.
