Cheiraoba celebrated in Manipur

Imphal, Apr 14 (UNI) Cheiraoba which marks the end of the year and beginning of a New Year was celebrated in Manipur in pomp and splendour today.
Most families observed the day by offering prayers to the Gods and Goddesses and offered fruits, vegetables and food to the Almighty to seek blessings and a bountiful new year. Women presented gifts to their parents and brothers. In the afternoon people climbed the nearest hillocks. Special security and parking arrangements were done at various places to control the crowd.
Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has extended her heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Cheiraoba, which falls on April 14.
