Channi, Warring allege risk of vote tampering post Punjab local body polls

Chandigarh, Dec 15 (UNI) As Punjab’s district council and block committee elections came to an end, senior Congress leaders Charanjit Singh Channi and state party chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Monday urged party workers to remain on high alert over the next two days, alleging possible attempts to manipulate the electoral process.
Addressing party candidates and workers, the leaders claimed that irregularities were reported from several parts of the state during polling, particularly related to voter lists. They alleged that while some issues were rectified after protests, the risk had not ended with voting.
The Congress leaders warned that ballot boxes stored in strong rooms could be vulnerable to tampering. They directed candidates to deploy 10 to 15 party workers at each strong room round-the-clock and not to leave the premises even briefly.
