Chadwick Boseman gets posthumous star on ‘Hollywood Walk of Fame’

Los Angeles, Nov 14 (UNI) Late actor Chadwick Boseman will be honoured with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, five years after his untimely demise at the age of 43, reported People. The ceremony is scheduled for November 20.
Boseman’s Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and Academy Award-winning actress Viola Davis, who co-starred with him in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, will speak at the event.
His wife, Simone Ledward-Boseman, will accept the honour on his behalf. The star will be located at 6904 Hollywood Blvd., according to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honoured to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame.
Boseman built a distinguished film career portraying iconic Black historical figures. He received a posthumous Academy Award nomination in 2021 for his role as troubled trumpet player Levee Green in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, adapted from August Wilson’s 1982 play.
His performance earned him the Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice, and Screen Actors Guild Awards, which his wife accepted on his behalf.
Boseman first gained widespread acclaim in 2013 for portraying baseball legend Jackie Robinson in 42, followed by acclaimed roles as James Brown in Get On Up (2014) and Thurgood Marshall, the first Black US Supreme Court Justice, in Marshall (2017).
Among Marvel fans, Boseman is immortalised as the superhero Black Panther, a role that solidified his global popularity and cultural impact.
