Centre insulting people of Manipur: Congress

Imphal, June 18 (UNI) The central government has insulted and humiliated the people and the government of Manipur by holding a meeting on Monday in the absence of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, said Congress President, K Meghachandra.
Meghachandra said on Tuesday that the meeting presided over by Union Home Minister Amit Shah violates the Indian Constitution as law and order is a state subject under Schedule 7 of the Constitution. No elected representatives from Manipur including the Chief Minister were invited to the meeting held to discuss the Manipur situation. People have been suffering for such a long time and the Centre and state governments both ruled by BJP and cited as double engine governments seem to have a strained relationship as people are not getting food, essential supplies, LPG, and petroleum products, he added addressing the media.
In the meeting presided over by the Home Minister only the Chief Secretary, DGP and Security Advisor were representing Manipur and why elected legislators of Manipur were excluded he asked. Most of the officials who represented Manipur were assigned their tasks last year and people who know the pulse of the people should have been invited, he added. People of Manipur and the state government have been ignored and the centre is acting as though Article 355 or 366 is promulgated in Manipur which allows central intervention.
