Center Zone Women retain Spiti Cup title; Men’s and U-18 battle set for final day

Kaza, Feb 10(UNI) Center Zone Women successfully defended their Spiti Cup title with a flawless campaign, winning all three of their games to retain the crown, as Day 4 of the Spiti Cup Season 3, powered by Royal Enfield, delivered decisive results across categories at the Kaza Ice Hockey Rink. While Center sealed the women’s championship in emphatic fashion, the Senior Men’s title race remains wide open heading into the final day, with an unbeaten Center Zone still in contention. Pin Zone Men, meanwhile, continued their strong run and currently sit at the top of the men’s table with three wins from four games.
Center Zone Women underlined their dominance with a commanding 8–0 victory over Pin Zone to seal the title. Sonam Angmo was at the heart of the performance, assisting Zedhen Wangmo for the opening goal in the fifth minute. Zedhen followed it up with an individual effort in the 11th minute, before captain Angrup Chhomo made it 3–0 two minutes later. In the second period, Sonam Angmo added her first of the game in the third minute, assisted Angrup Chhomo in the 11th, and then scored again a minute later. Sonam completed a four-goal haul in the third period, scoring in the eighth and 14th minutes, as Center cruised to an 8–0 win and secured the title with three wins from three games.
In the other women’s fixture, Sham Zone confirmed a second-place finish with a 6–2 victory over Tod Zone. After a cautious opening period, Sham captain Tanzin Dolma struck twice in the opening four minutes of the second period, assisted by Kunga Yangchen and Nawang Zangmo. Late goals from Nawang Zangmo and Kunga Yangchen in the second period stretched the lead to 4–0. Kunga added another early in the third period before Tod mounted a brief response through Kesang Lamo and Nawang Lamo. A late own goal, however, sealed a 6–2 win in Sham Zone’s favour.
