CBIC Extends Export Incentives to Postal Shipments, Boosting MSME and E-commerce Exports : FIEO

Hyderabad/ New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) In a move aimed at strengthening MSME and cross-border e-commerce exports, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has extended export incentives under the ‘Duty Drawback, RoDTEP and RoSCTL schemes’ to exports made through the postal mode in electronic form, effective January 15, 2026.
Welcoming the decision, the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) in a statement on Friday said the measure would provide long-awaited relief to small exporters, particularly those operating from smaller towns and remote regions who rely heavily on postal channels.
FIEO President S C Ralhan termed the move progressive and transformative, noting that it creates a level playing field for MSMEs and e-commerce exporters.
“The extension of incentives to postal exports will enhance competitiveness, lower transaction costs and significantly boost India’s emerging postal-led cross-border e-commerce ecosystem,” he said.
To implement the decision, CBIC has amended the Postal Export (Electronic Declaration and Processing) Regulations, 2022 through Notification 7/2026–Customs (N.T.) and issued Circular No. 01/2026–Customs, both dated January 15, 2026.
Mr. Ralhan added that the move complements the government’s broader push to promote e-commerce exports under the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, including end-to-end electronic processing of postal exports, automation of IGST refunds, the Hub-and-Spoke model and the establishment of over 1,000 Dak Niryat Kendras across the country.
Industry experts believe the decision marks a key milestone in simplifying export procedures, promoting inclusive growth and strengthening India’s position in the global e-commerce trade landscape.
