CBI arrests Odisha CGST Superintendent for bribery

Bhubaneswar, May 8 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Superintendent of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) in Odisha’s Balasore district, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant, officials said today.
The top probe agency registered a case on May 8 following allegations that the accused Superintendent Om Prakash Nayak in connivance with an Assistant Commissioner of CGST, Balasore, had demanded the bribe for facilitating the release of a GST refund of around Rs 16 lakh to the complainant’s company.
Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap and caught the accused official red-handed while allegedly receiving the bribe amount, officials said.
