CBFC clears 'Rahu Ketu' after asking for removal of Kantara scream with several others

Mumbai, Jan 14 (UNI) The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the upcoming Hindi film 'Rahu Ketu' with a U/A 16 certificate, subject to a series of modifications, including the replacement of a sound cue popularly associated with the film 'Kantara'.
Among the changes mandated by the Examining Committee was the replacement of drug-related visuals depicting sniffing and snorting, which were asked to be substituted with more appropriate shots throughout the film. The Board also took objection to the use of an obscene hand gesture, instructing that the raised middle finger be digitally altered to a pinky finger wherever it appeared.
All references to alcohol brand names were ordered to be removed from the film.
That's not all. The makers were asked to submit an authentication letter for the Sanskrit Shloka used in the film. Lastly, the Examining Committee asked the makers to replace 'Kantara film music (voom) scream', reports Bollywood Hungama.
After being satisfied with the cuts, CBFC has cleared the censor certificate to the film on January 12.
The length of the film, as mentioned on the certificate is 139.40 minutes, i.e., 2 hours, 19 minutes and 40 seconds long.
'Rahu Ketu' is backed by Zee Studios and B-Live Productions Pvt Ltd and produced by Umesh Kumar Bansal, Suraj Singh and Varsha Kukreja. It marks the return of Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma after their successful association in the Fukrey series. Interestingly, Vipul Vig, who was the writer of Fukrey (2013), Fukrey Returns (2017) and Fukrey 3 (2023), makes his directorial debut with 'Rahu Ketu'.
Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Chunky Panday and Shalini Pandey promoted Rahu Ketu at the Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest and India Entertainment Awards 2025.
Samrat said, “Since the time the first part of Fukrey released, Varun and I have been getting lots and lots of offers to do a film together. Aur bahut dukh hota hai kyunki humein bahut paise offer hote hai. When we reject so much money is when we realise that hum acche insaan hai! Hum sirf kaam ki kadar karte hai (we are good people who give greater importance to the role).”
The actor noted that the project offered them an opportunity to collaborate again in a setting distinct from the 'Fukrey' universe, with 'Rahu Ketu' positioned as a more expansive and fantastical narrative.
