Case of honour killing: Retired UP Police Sub-Inspector arrested for killing daughter over love affair

Agra, Dec 15 (UNI) A shocking case of honour killing has come to light in Agra, where a retired Uttar Pradesh Police Sub-Inspector allegedly strangled his own daughter to death after opposing her love relationship. The victim’s body was later dumped in the Yamuna River.
Acting on the accused father’s confession, police have recovered skeletal remains from the riverbank in Etawah district, officials confirmed today.
The incident pertains to Malpura police station area of Agra. The accused, Ranveer Singh Yadav (65), a retired Sub-Inspector, was a resident of Vinayak Garden. His daughter Anshu Yadav (35) was in a relationship with a neighbouring youth, Anurag Yadav, and wanted to marry him. Ranveer and other family members were strongly opposed to this relationship.

Panchkula, Jun 12 (UNI) Widespread thunderstorms, gusty winds and rain brought much-needed relief from the scorching heat across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Chandigarh on Friday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting further rainfall activity over the region during the next few days.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, New Delhi, rain and thundershowers occurred at most places across Punjab, Haryana and Delhi during the past 24 hours, while thunderstorms were reported from several locations.

Chandigarh, Jun 12 (UNI) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for severe thunderstorms, lightning and hailstorms in several districts of Punjab and Haryana, cautioning residents about strong winds reaching speeds of 60 to 80 kmph during the next few hours.
According to the IMD Chandigarh Centre, severe thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning and hail is very likely over parts of Mansa, Sangrur, Barnala, Patiala, Bathinda, Fazilka and Sri Muktsar Sahib districts of Punjab.
