Campaign for Mizoram's Sinlung Hills Council election kicks off

Aizawl, Oct 15(UNI) The Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) and its ally, Hmar People's Convention (HPC), along with the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF), officially kicked off their campaigns for the Sinlung Hills Council (SHC) elections, scheduled for November 5. Sharp exchanges marked the start of the 12-seat council race.
Simultaneous campaign launches were held across various SHC towns and villages in northeastern Mizoram. Chief Minister Lalduhoma, Home Minister K. Sapdanga, and Minister B. Lalchhanzova led the ZPM-HPC campaign.
At a public meeting in Sakawrdai, Chief Minister Lalduhoma accused the previous government of neglecting the Hmar community's peace agreement, citing inadequate funding for the council. He highlighted his administration's efforts, including the construction of the Tuivai bridge, calling it an economic lifeline.
