Cal HC asks Kolkata Police Commissioner to submit report on protest inside court

Kolkata, Apr 30 (UNI) Calcutta High Court has taken a suo motu cognisance of alleged heckling of some lawyers and slogans against a sitting High court judge by a mob and asked Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma to identify those and submit a report before it.
Chief Justice T S Sivagnanam and Justice Chaitali Chatterjee also constituted a three-judge bench comprising Justices Arijit Banerjee, Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya and Rajarshi Bharadwaj on the matter on Tuesday, court sources said.
The division bench of Chief Justice T S Sivagnanam and Justice Chaitali Chatterjee on Monday directed the city police chief to identify those who allegedly made derogatory comments against sitting judge Justice Biswajit Basu during protest demonstration by the group of people against senior lawyer and CPI(M) Rajya Sabha member Bikas Ranjan Bhattacharya and his assistant advocate Firdouse Shamim, who fought the case in alleged cash for jobs in the government-aided schools.
