CAG slams Aizawl Municipal Corporation for irregular disposal of garbage trucks, resulting in ₹3.16 cr loss

Aizawl, Sep 11(UNI) The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has raised serious concerns over the Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) for mishandling the disposal of 45 garbage trucks, leading to a loss of ₹3.16 crore to the state exchequer. The audit report has called on the Mizoram government to hold responsible the officials involved in the irregularities.

The issue stems from the delivery of 54 new vehicles, including 50 LPK 407 tipper trucks and 4 Xenon pickups, to AMC by the State Investment Project Management and Implementation Unit (SIPMIU) on October 3, 2017, for garbage disposal purposes in the capital. These vehicles, valued at Rs 10.28 crore, were meant to serve the city’s waste management needs.
