By conferring Bharat Ratna to Bhupenda, we honoured self respect & dreams of Northeast: Modi

Guwahati, Sep 13 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid a rich tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and said that by conferring upon him the country’s highest civilian award, the BJP government has not only honoured the dreams and self respect of the entire northeast but also ensured that northeast is a priority for the country.
The Prime Minister while taking part in Dr. Bhupen Hazarika birth centenary celebration at a glittering function at Khanapara here also inaugurated a book written on the music maestro, which will be translated into 21 other languages in Indian and distributed to all the libraries of the colleges and universities in the country.
The Prime Minister also released the Rs. 100 commemorative coin on Late Dr. Hazarika.

Bengal: Elephant kills youth, protest in Bankura
