By 2030, Telangana will emerge as India’s undisputed Aerospace & Defence Capital: Minister Uttam Kumar

Hyderabad, May 8 (UNI) Telangana Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday said the state is firmly positioning itself as a national leader in aerospace and defence manufacturing and expressed confidence that by 2030, it would emerge as India’s undisputed Aerospace and Defence Capital
He recalled his own association with the defence services as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force and shared his experience of serving as ADC to the President of India after retiring from active flying following a forced ejection from a fighter aircraft.
Addressing the gathering during the post-lunch session of “MSME Spark 3.0 – Aerospace & Defence Manufacturing” conference organised by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), in association Telangana state Industries & Commerce Department here, Uttam stated that aerospace and defence are among the priority sectors identified by the Telangana Government under its industrial policy framework.
Describing Hyderabad as one of the world’s most cost-effective aerospace destinations, he highlighted the city’s strong ecosystem comprising defence laboratories, research institutions, advanced manufacturing facilities, and a vibrant MSME base.
He informed that nearly 1,500 MSMEs in Telangana are currently part of the aerospace and defence supply chain ecosystem.
Uttam also highlighted the Telangana Government’s focus on skill development and future-ready education initiatives, including the proposed TG Young University, which he said would significantly contribute towards strengthening India’s defence equipment manufacturing ecosystem and developing a skilled workforce for emerging technologies.
Speaking on the occasion, FTCCI President R. Ravi Kumar, said “MSME Spark 3.0 reflects FTCCI’s commitment to strengthening MSMEs by connecting them with emerging opportunities in aerospace and defence manufacturing. India’s journey towards Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence is creating unprecedented opportunities for industry, startups, and innovators, and Telangana is well-positioned to lead this transformation with its strong industrial ecosystem, progressive policies, and skilled talent base.”
