Stock markets end higher, Sensex jumps over 700 points led by IT

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Indian Stock Markets recovered today, with Sensex jumping over 700 points and Nifty by 270 points led by IT sectoral gains and buoyant investor sentiment amidst easing of geopolitical tensions in West Asia. At close, the BSE Sensex jumped 879 points, or 1.23 per cent, to 72,472 and the NSE Nifty gained 289 points, or 1.30 per cent, to 22,520. Nearly 2,419 shares advanced while 1,780 declined.
