BR Patil seeks probe into irregularities in housing scheme

Kalaburagi, Jun 22 (UNI) Senior Congress MLA BR Patil has raised serious concerns over alleged irregularities in the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation scheme, demanding an impartial inquiry into the process of sanctioning houses under the programme.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Patil said, "A very big thing has happened. Based on my experience, I can say this with conviction."
He revealed that despite submitting four letters to the government seeking housing benefits for his entire constituency, no allotment was made for the year 2024-25.
“I don’t know why nothing was sanctioned. Even those who took letters from me did not receive anything,” he said.
Patil questioned how some individuals could manage to get houses sanctioned independently while applications for the larger community were ignored.
“When people go individually and get houses sanctioned, it raises serious questions. This is my concern,” he remarked.
Patil holds a cabinet-rank post as Vice‑Chairman of the State Policy & Planning Commission, but he is not an active member of Siddaramaiah’s ministerial cabinet.
Clarifying that he did not name any specific individual or accuse anyone of taking money, Patil called for an inquiry into the operations of the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation.
"Let the truth come out. If anyone is guilty, even if from my own government, action should be taken. I am not here to defend any government blindly,” he asserted.
He reiterated his commitment to the people and said he raised the issue only because his constituents brought it to his notice.
“I stand with the public. I won’t stay silent when there’s wrongdoing. People like me raise our voices,” he said.
On the issue of corruption, Patil delivered a sharp critique, saying it has eroded the very fabric of Indian politics. “A major revolution is needed. But neither the atmosphere nor the leadership for such a change exists today — except for Rahul Gandhi, who appears to be the only person capable of bringing that transformation,” he added.
He revealed that he had already spoken to the concerned Private Secretary but had not yet written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. “If the CM calls me, I will go and explain everything,”Patil said.
Refuting any speculation about dissent within the Congress, Patil said he has full faith in the party and would personally speak to those who misunderstood his remarks.
