Bommai raps Ktk govt, says Rs 2.5 lakh loan no feat

Bengaluru, May 19 (UNI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai on Monday criticised the Karnataka government’s financial management, stating that borrowing Rs 2.5 lakh crore in the past two years is no achievement.
In a press release marking the completion of two years of the Siddaramaiah-led government, Bommai said the state has witnessed "financially dark days," with the government heavily reliant on loans to meet its expenses.
Bommai accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of imposing the highest taxes in the state’s history on essential commodities and services, including petrol, diesel, excise, milk, water, garbage, and stamp duty. He added that the government levied an additional Rs 40,000 crore in taxes last year and imposed another Rs 60,000 crore burden on taxpayers this year.
