Mumbai, June 12 (UNI) The harrowing Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad has plunged the nation into collective mourning and the Hindi film industry has responded with an outpouring of empathy and solemn tributes.
Several Bollywood celebrities have taken to social media to share their anguish and extend their prayers to those affected by the catastrophe.
Salman Khan decided ro cancel one of his programmes. He has also re-scheduled his appearance at the launch event of the Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL). He stated, "We stand tall with the families of the victims in this hour of grief".
The organisers of the event too echoed the sentiments of Khan and issued a press release stating, "We are aware of the tragic incident that took place and this is a sad moment for everyone. The ISRL and Salman Khan stands in solidarity with the nation in this difficult time. Since there is no time to celebrate, we have taken a joint decision to postpone the event. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims in this time of collective grief."
Akshay Kumar posted on Instagram, writing, "I am shocked by the Air India accident. I am just praying right now."
Veteran actor and former MP Sunny Deol wrote, "I am saddened and still in shock to hear the news of the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts are with all the passengers, their families and all those affected. In this difficult time, I am praying for everyone from the bottom of my heart, he said."
