BNP alleges conspiracy to 'derail' 2026 elections in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Nov 7 (UNI) Flaring the massive bout of social unrest and political tensions, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has alleged that certain elements are conspiring to derail the February 2026 polls.
"Attempts are being made to create an unstable environment in the country. They are trying to foil the election. They are trying to postpone the election. The people will not accept this," BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said during a rally in Jessore on Thursday, reports state media.
"We have an opportunity to return to a democratic system. We cannot let this opportunity be wasted due to conspiracy," he added.
