BJP walks out in Bengal Assembly after four of its MLAs suspended

Kolkata, June 23 (UNI) Four BJP MLAs were suspended from the West Bengal Assembly on Monday for the current monsoon session for their alleged unruly behaviour on the floor of the House by Speaker Biman Banerjee. In protest the BJP legislators walked out of the assembly shouting slogans.
The suspended BJP MLAs are Agnimitra Paul, Shankar Ghosh, Shankar Oraon and Dilip Burman. The charges against them included disrespect to the chair and unruly behaviour in the House.
The Speaker ordered marshal to take out the suspended BJP legislators, which infuriated the other party MLAs, including leader of the House Suvendu Adhikari, who stood for some time on the floor closed to Chair and finally led all his MLAs out of the House.
The House witnessed chaotic scenes in the early hours as tempers ran high when BJP MLA Asoke Lahiri asked the chair why his version was expunged from the record when he spoke on Thursday last.
The Speaker on Thursday ruled that the speeches of the BJP MLAs to be expunged from the record during a discussion as the opposition legislators walked out while the minister concerned was replying.
BJP MLA Ashok Lahiri asked the Chair on Monday under which provision his speech was expunged from the record. Chaos prevailed and the chair suspended the four BJP MLAs, resulting in the BJP walkout.
