BJP trying to ‘steal a seat’ in Rajya Sabha, alleges TPCC president

Hyderabad, June 13 (UNI): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the BJP over the issue involving Meenakshi Natarajan, alleging that democratic values were being undermined for political gain.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Goud questioned whether the country was functioning under a democracy or a dictatorship. He alleged that a notice had been issued against Meenakshi Natarajan without any substantive case and described the action as politically motivated.
Claiming that the BJP had conspired to strengthen its position in the Rajya Sabha, he said Meenakshi Natarajan, whom he described as a committed Gandhian and a person of integrity, had been made a scapegoat. He further alleged that the Prime Minister's Office had intervened in the matter and that political pressure had influenced the process, including the functioning of the Returning Officer's office.
