BJP–NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) likely to face each other in Pune, says CM Fadnavis

Pune, Dec 15 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said that with Pune city and district having emerged as strongholds of both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar, the two parties may contest against each other in the upcoming municipal elections.
However, Fadnavis clarified that such a contest would be a “friendly fight” without any bitterness. “Even if BJP and NCP face each other in Pune, it will be a cordial contest with no animosity,” he noted.
The Chief Minister explained that while the Mahayuti alliance will attempt to contest municipal elections together at most places, the nature of alliances may differ depending on local conditions. In some places, it could be a BJP–Shiv Sena alliance, while in others it could be BJP–NCP. Decisions will be taken after assessing the local situation and consulting local leaders, Fadnavis added.
