BJP names trade union leader Abhijit Das (Bobby) to contest from Diamond Harbour LS in Bengal

Kolkata, Apr 16 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday
named Abhijit Das, alias Bobby Da, to contest from much-talked-about
Diamond Harbour seat in South 24 Parganas, where West Bengal ruling
Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishekh Banerjee is seeking
his third consecutive term in Parliament.
With the naming of Das, a trade unionist from the Bharatiya Mazdoor
Sangh, the BJP completed its all 42 candidates for the state,
which is having a seven-phase polling beginning April 19 to June 1, 2024.
The Diamond Harbour seat will have the last phase voting on June 1.
Sources said the BJP's central election committee has released its
12th list of seven candidates for the ensuing Lok Sabha election,
including Abhijit Das,
alias Bobby Da, from Diamond Harbour Parliamentary constituency.
BJP leadership in the state welcomed the name of Das, who is popularly
known as Bobby Da, a resident of Amtala in South 24 Parganas.
He is not new in the electoral battle, party sources said.
Earlier Left Front candidate Pratikur Rahman, a CPI(M) leader, has
been named to contest from the same seat.
Besides them, the ISF fielded a party candidate.
