New Delhi, Apr 19 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sought to distance itself from the critical comments about the judiciary made by party MP Nishikant Dubey and Dinesh Sharma and said the party rejects the statements.
Party chief JP Nadda said that the party has directed both the BJP leaders as well as everyone else, to refrain from making such statements.
In a post on X, Nadda, who is also Union Health Minister, said:
“The statements made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and Dinesh Sharma regarding the judiciary and the Chief Justice of the country have no connection whatsoever with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
“These are their personal statements, but the BJP neither agrees with such statements nor ever supports them. The BJP outrightly rejects these statements.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party has always respected the judiciary, wholeheartedly accepting their orders and suggestions, because as a party, we believe that the Supreme Court, along with all courts in the country, is an integral part of our democracy and a strong pillar for the protection of the Constitution.
“I have directed both of them, as well as everyone else, to refrain from making such statements.”
The statement comes as Dubey, Lok Sabha MP from Gonda in Jharkhand, said in a post on X that if the Supreme Court is going to be the one making the laws then it would be better to shut down Parliament.
“Kanoon yadi Supreme Court hi banayega to Sansad Bhavan bandh kar dena chahiye," Nishikant Dubey said in post in Hindi on X.
He also blamed the Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna for the “civil wars” happening in India
He also criticised the Supreme Court for issuing directions to the President of India, with regard to a time-line for giving assent to bills. “How can you give direction to the appointing authority? The President appoints the Chief Justice of India. The Parliament makes the law of this country. You will dictate to that Parliament?... In which law is it written that the President has to take a decision within three months? This means that you want to take this country towards anarchy,” he has said.
