BJP confident of victory in Telangana MLC elections: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad, Feb 16 (UNI) Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy said that the BJP is set to achieve positive results in the upcoming MLC elections in the state scheduled for February 27.
Addressing a press conference in Hanumakonda on Sunday, he criticised both the BRS and Congress for failing to deliver on their promises and pledged that the BJP would stand firmly with teachers, graduates, and employees.
Reddy accused the BRS government of misleading the people in 2018 by promising to establish the Bayyaram Steel Plant, despite knowing that the project was infeasible due to the lack of iron ore availability.
He stated that public dissatisfaction with the Congress government has been growing within just a year of its rule, just as it had against BRS over the past decade.
Farmers, labourers, youth, and employees are reportedly frustrated due to the failure of Congress to implement its election guarantees effectively.
Highlighting the BJP’s role in the Legislative Council, Reddy accused both BRS and Congress of undermining the council’s significance by inducting members in mass defections.
He stated that the council was originally designed to raise the concerns of teachers and employees, but its purpose has been weakened under the current government.
The BJP has fielded Sarvottam Reddy from Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda, Komuraiya from the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad Teachers’ Constituency, and Anji Reddy from the Graduates' Constituency. Reddy expressed confidence that they would win with the support of teachers, graduates, and the public.
Slamming the Congress government, he said that despite claiming to have implemented its six guarantees within 100 days, the real beneficiaries—farmers, unemployed youth, and students—remain neglected. He criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for failing to deliver on promises and instead shifting focus to new issues every week to divert public attention.
Reddy also accused the BRS and Congress of financially crippling Telangana, turning a surplus-budget state into a debt-ridden one. He stated that the current government is prioritizing land sales and loans instead of having a concrete action plan for development.
Reaffirming the BJP’s commitment to accountability and governance, he stated that his party would never tolerate scams and corruption, emphasizing that the people of Telangana seek transparent and responsible leadership.
