BJP charges Congress govt with "1,000 lies and betrayals" in Telangana
Hyderabad, Sep 1 (UNI) BJP Legislature Party Leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy on Tuesday released a "1000 Days, 1000 Lies, 1000 Betrayals" charge sheet against the Congress government in Telangana, alleging failures in governance, welfare, education, agriculture, law and order and financial management.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office in Nampally, Mr Maheshwar Reddy said the Congress government had failed to fulfil its "Six Guarantees" and several of the 420 promises made to the people. He alleged that the State was witnessing scams, corruption and deterioration in law and order.
He alleged that the government had failed to implement key promises including the Rs 2,500 monthly assistance to women under the Mahalakshmi scheme, Rs 500 LPG cylinders, Rs 5 lakh collateral-free assistance under Yuva Vikasam, Rs 15,000 per acre under Rythu Bharosa and enhanced social security pensions. He also criticised the implementation of Indiramma Houses and Gruha Jyothi.
On education, Mr Reddy alleged that the government had accumulated Rs 15,000 crore in fee reimbursement dues, affecting nearly 40 lakh families, while thousands of government schools lacked basic facilities. He also raised concerns over faculty shortages and funding at universities, particularly Basara IIIT.
He alleged irregularities in the Bhu-Bharathi/Section 22A land issue, claiming that nearly one crore acres had been placed on the prohibited list and demanding a comprehensive investigation. He announced that BJP MLAs, MLCs and MPs would observe a two-day protest on the 5th and 6th against the issue.
The BJP leader also criticised the proposed Musi rejuvenation project, questioned the State's financial position and alleged that the government had accumulated substantial additional debt. He further accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil promises concerning BC, SC and ST welfare, healthcare, drinking water, irrigation and employment.
On law and order, Mr Maheshwar Reddy claimed that the crime rate had increased by 7.15 per cent in the last six months and cited recent incidents involving crimes against women as evidence of the deterioration.
He called upon Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to answer the allegations and declared that the BJP would continue its struggle against what it described as anti-people policies.
