BJP alleges ‘suppression of protest’ as Telangana chief placed under house arrest

Hyderabad, Apr 18 (UNI) Tension gripped Hyderabad on Saturday after Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao was placed under house arrest by police, preventing him from proceeding to the residence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
The BJP condemned the move, alleging it amounted to a “suppression of protest” and a restriction on political dissent.
The BJP said that the Police action was aimed at thwarting a planned protest march by party leaders to the Chief Minister’s residence to condemn the Congress party’s opposition to the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament.
