BJP activists accused of burning thousands of newspapers in Tripura

Agartala, Nov 7 (UNI) The ruling BJP supporters of Gomati district in South Tripura on Saturday allegedly burnt thousands of today’s edition of a popular vernacular daily Pratibadi Kalam at Udaipur bus stand in protest against its editor writing about multi-crore agriculture scam of Biplab Kumar Deb government.
The editor of the newspaper Anal Roychoudhury lodged a complaint with Superintendent of Police (Gomati) stating that a group of about 30 people, led by Raju Majumdar, forcibly offloaded all the newspaper bundles en route to Gomati and South Tripura district at Rajarbag bus stand from a Sabroom bound passenger bus.
They burnt down the newspaper on Agartala – Sabroom national highway and abused the newspaper management for writing against Rs 150 Cr corruption of state agriculture department. They allegedly threatened the newspaper authority of dire consequence unless they stopped writing on the issue, the editor alleged.
