Bihar’s women empowerment model a beacon for the nation: Lalan

Patna, July 19 (UNI) Bihar has emerged as a national model for women empowerment, said Union Panchayati Raj Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh adding that the strategic empowerment of women folk has helped in attaining an impressive growth rate of 9.2 percent placing the state among the top three fastest-growing states in the country.
Speaking at a high-level conference on “Envisioning a Developed Bihar through Women’s Participation” organised jointly by the Indian Institute of Public Administration and JEEViKA , Lalan Singh said here today that Bihar is currently among the top three fastest-growing states in the country, recording an impressive growth rate of 9.2 percent which was possible through the sustained and strategic empowerment of women over the past two decades. He said the women empowerment is the driving force behind the state’s remarkable development trajectory.
Singh said that recognising the strength of women who constitute 50 percent of the population, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar brought them into the mainstream of society and equipped them with leadership.
